BA DEGREE IN SPANISH

The requirements for the BA Degree in Spanish are as follows:
Choose one of the following three options.
Literature Option
Upper-division requirements (11 courses)
- Spanish 101A and 101B or 109A and 109B
- Spanish 110 (prerequisite for all upper-division literature courses)
- Two courses from SPN 120A, SPN 120B, SPN 120C/LNST 120
- Three courses from the following survey courses: SPN 180A, SPN 180B, SPN 181B, SPN 181B
- One additional course in Spanish or Latin American literature
- One course from SPN 102A or SPN 102B
- SPN 193
Linguistics Option
Upper-division requirements (11 courses)
- Spanish 101A and 101B or 109A and 109B
- Spanish 110 (prerequisite for all upper-division literature courses)
- Spanish 105, 106A and 106B
- One course from SPN 120A, SPN 120B, SPN 120C/LNST 120
- One course from SPN 102A, SPN 102B
- Two courses of upper-division electives in Spanish
- SPN 193
Cultural Studies Option
Upper-division requirements (11 courses):
- SPN 101A and SPN 101B or SPN 109A and SPN 109B
- SPN 110 (prerequisite for all upper-division literature courses)
- One course from SPN 102A or SPN 102B
- One course from SPN 120A, SPN 120B, SPN 120C/LNST 120
- One course from SPN 122A, SPN 122B, SPN 165 (Cultural Studies core courses)
- One course from SPN 120A, SPN 120B, SPN 120C/LNST 120, SPN 121 (E-Z), SPN 124, SPN 142, SPN 143
- Two courses from SPN 122A, SPN 122B, SPN 125 (E-Z)/FVC (E-Z)/LNST 125 (E-Z), SPN 145, SPN 165, SPN 171/FVC 171, SPN 172, SPN 179/FVC 179/LNST 109/WMST 179, SPN 185/FVC 185/LNST 185, SPN 188 (E-Z)
- One course of an upper-division elective course in Spanish or a Hispanic Studies Cultural Studies related course: this can be a cultural studies class taught in English (for example: upper-division FVC classes on Latin America; or upper-division classes taught in LNST; or in ENG or CPLT, if the focus is on the Caribbean)
